THE CHALLENGE

Get a better understanding of the attendees at a live event allowing marketers to more effectively identify key influencers, determine ideal engagement strategies and address any issues surrounding the activities.

THE OUTCOME

A hyperlocal social listening solution boasting the most in-depth influencer insights and experience analytics powering some of the world's top brands including Red Bull, Jimmy Kimmel Live, AT&T, The Washington Wizards & Capitals, Guns & Roses and multiple Super Bowls.

Over 3 years, Ampsy successfully pivoted from a consumer social media feed app to a robust enterprise social listening solution. By using an agile methodology, the team rapidly designed, developed, deployed and iterated on new enhancements and features typically on a monthly basis.

We started by interviewing our existing relationships within the live events music industry including promoters, managers, record label executives and performers. We quickly identified the issue with live event social media engagement was influencer priority, content reach and impact and ultimately context that added authenticity to the conversation.

With this information, Ampsy quickly deployed an MVP that focused on capturing relevant social content from within the boundaries of a live event. This first iteration quickly evolved into supporting multi-brand organizations while tracking simultaneous active campaigns and increased listening sources.

The platform quickly expanded beyond music into professional sports, retail, hospitality, agencies and conferences. Ampsy has been used for surprise and delight campaigns, influencer marketing, market analytics, live event activation and much more.

Geo-fence Management. As a crucial function, managing geo-fences was vital to the success of launching a campaign. We managed interaction speed by clearly positioning the most important actions first ensuring all elements were visible on 13 inch laptop displays. Secondarily we displayed advanced filtering functionality through a series of one click selectors and simple inputs. As a result creating a geo-fence could be achieved in seconds.

Audience Engagement. Finding the most valuable influencers and content in a sea of social noise is no easy task. We addressed this challenge by displaying advanced filtering and sorting options as well as providing an in-depth but quick engagement modal directly from the content feed. These actions allowed an individual user or an entire marketing team to pinpoint high value influencers and content for immediate engagement, activation and influencer database development.

Experience Analytics. Knowing who your audience is and how they are feeling in real-time is invaluable to live event and physical location marketers. It was our goal to provide as many actionable analytics as possible, not just vanity metrics. To help prioritize marketing opportunities, we centralized the most actionable insights followed by more granular functions such as advanced search, emotional reactions, multi-location influencers, personal & visual insights and saved segments.

Role: Vice President of Product. I contributed UX/IxD, visual design, web design, video production and business development, in addition to overseeing the creative team of 8 people including design, development and content creation.
